Na Ptuju se začenja 22. festival sodobne umetnosti Art Stays

Ptuj, 4. julija – S projekcijo francoske umetnice Beatrice Lartigue in perfomansom plesne skupnosti Gea se popoldne v Dominikanskem samostanu na Ptuju začenja 22. festival sodobne umetnosti Art Stays. Na uvodni dan bodo odprli mednarodno razstavo kustosa Mattea Galbatija, zvečer pa bo na Slovenskem trgu potekal koncert argentinske zasedbe La Fanfarria del Capitan.

S svojo 22. izdajo, ki nosi naslov Prostor (The Space), bo festival znova spojil kulturno dediščino mesta in sodobno umetniško produkcijo umetnikov z vseh koncev sveta. Letos bo sodelovalo okoli 50 umetnikov iz več kot 20 držav.

Kot je pred začetkom festivala povedal njegov umetniški direktor Jernej Forbici, bo letos v ospredju dogajanja vprašanje, kaj je prostor, o kakšnem prostoru govorimo in ali je tisto okoli nas res vse, kar obstaja. Ker gre za zelo široko temo, so po besedah Forbicija temu primerno tudi likovna dela in kuratorski projekti zastavljeni zelo široko in se ukvarjajo s prostorom v vseh mogočih smislih.

Vse do nedelje bo potekal program otvoritvenega vikenda, v sklopu katerega bodo odprli razstave na desetih razstaviščih, prisluhnili jazzu, sodelovali na delavnicah, performansih, pogovorih in drugih dogodkih ter se družili v ambientih starodavnega Ptuja.

V sklopu festivala bodo tokrat odprli tri velike skupinske razstave, osrednja med njimi bo razstava Prostor v Galeriji mesta Ptuj, ki sta jo pripravila Forbici in njegova umetniška ter življenjska sopotnica Marika Vicari in nagovarja prostor kot živ, nenehno se spreminjajoč organizem, v katerem človek še danes išče svoj prostor.

Na omenjeni razstavi se bodo med drugimi predstavljali svetovno znani belgijski umetnik Hans Op de Beeck, francoska umetnica Beatrice Lartigue, pa tudi Vinko Tušek in avstralski umetnik Shaun Gladwell, ki je Avstralijo predstavljal na letošnjem Beneškem bienalu.

V dominikanskem samostanu bo na ogled razstava Ecosofismi italijanskega kustosa Matea Galbiattija s kiparji iz Nemčije in Italije, tretjo večjo mednarodno razstavo – Tranzitni prostori za mobilne identitete kustosinje Livie Savorelli pa bodo v soboto odprli na dvorišču Ptujskega gradu.

Drugi razstavni dogodki bodo potekali še v Miheličevi galeriji, razstavišču osrednje ptujske knjižnice, Galeriji Magistrat, Galeriji FO.VI, Ozki galeriji in v razstavišču Kreativnega centra Breg. S slednjo se festival letos na novo lokacijo vrača v Majšperk, popolnoma nova pa je tudi Ozka galerija v starem ptujskem mestnem jedru.

Najožja galerija v Sloveniji, ki bo v prihodnje namenjena predvsem fotografiji, je prostor dobila za Mladinskim kulturnim centrom Stara steklarska. V njej tokrat odpirajo razstavo Industrijski prostori nedavno preminulega ptujskega fotografa Srdana Mohoriča.

Festival Art Stays v najstarejše slovensko mesto in njegovo okolico že od leta 2003 prinaša vrhunsko produkcijo domačih in tujih umetnikov, tudi nekaterih velikih imen sodobne umetnosti.

Na vabilo organizatorjev se vsako leto odzovejo številni likovni umetniki, kustosi, glasbeniki in galeristi. Danes festival sodi med najpomembnejše predstavitve sodobne, predvsem likovne umetnosti v Sloveniji in v tem delu Evrope, ter je postal referenčni dogodek za številne mednarodne galerije, muzeje, fundacije in umetnike.
